How Ansible Became AWX
There's a period in the modern history of IT that I call the "Boom of Automation Tools." It started around 2010 and is still ongoing. Demand for these tools has been growing exponentially as organizations look for ways to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Part of this boom is the rise of Ansible, created by Michael DeHaan in 2012, which quickly gained popularity thanks to its simplicity, flexibility, and a YAML-based language called playbooks. The fact that it is agentless is probably one of the key features that made its adoption skyrocket.
In 2013, Ansible, Inc. (originally called AnsibleWorks, Inc.) was founded by DeHaan, Saïd Ziouani, and Tim Gerla
