ClickHouse just leveled up. Its new SQL-standard UPDATE is fast—PostgreSQL-fast on single-row changes, and up to 4,000× faster on bulk updates. That’s pure columnar speed plus parallelism in the driver’s seat.

Yes, both use MVCC. But unlike Postgres, ClickHouse dodges transaction bloat by default. That pays off big in stateless, high-volume updates.

What’s happening here: OLAP engines like ClickHouse aren't just for analytics anymore. They're creeping into OLTP turf, armed with mutation support and geared for speed.
