The GitHub DMCA takedown policy aims to maximize code availability while safeguarding developers from overreach and ambiguous requests. The number of DMCA notices fluctuates, with a peak of 267 in March 2022 and a low of 113 in November 2023. Retractions, reversals, and counter-notices are much less frequent, peaking at 10 in August 2023.
