Dapr is an open source, portable distributed application runtime that provides building blocks for common microservice patterns such as service invocation, state management, pub/sub messaging, bindings, secrets, and actors. It runs as a sidecar alongside applications and integrates with Kubernetes, VMs, and local environments, abstracting underlying infrastructure and middleware without hiding them.
