The 25 Percent Rule for Tackling Technical Debt

The 25 Percent Rule for Tackling Technical Debt

Let's talk technical debt!

  • Yearly debt requires a big refactoring, but monthly debt problems can be solved with steady improvements.
  • Weekly debt requires a quick fix that doesn't affect current work.
  • Daily debt keeps the code ergonomic.

It's important to understand the different types of debt and prioritize fixing them. Code should be improved regularly, with 10% of time allocated to daily and weekly debt, and 5% to monthly and yearly debts.

>>Emphasize the importance of continuous improvement as part of the culture, and don't be afraid to refactor.

The FAUN watches over the forest of developers. It roams between Kubernetes clusters, code caves, AI trails, and cloud canopies, gathering the signals that matter and clearing out the noise.
