Microsoft has joined the OpenCost community, an open-source CNCF sandbox project that provides real-time cost monitoring for Kubernetes cloud spend.
OpenCost aims to address the challenge of accurately tracking infrastructure costs for applications, Kubernetes constructs, and organizational constructs. Microsoft has contributed new functionality to both AKS and OpenCost, including Azure resource prices and cost export.
The cost export feature allows for daily cost allocation and utilization data to be exported in a CSV format, which can easily be incorporated into external BI tooling.
The OpenCost project is looking for more contributors and encourages interested parties to get involved.
