Amazon opens its low-bandwidth, long-range Sidewalk network to developers

Amazon announces "Sidewalk," a low-bandwidth, long-range wireless network using the 900 MHz spectrum to connect IoT devices.

Using select developer-built apps, Amazon hopes to connect devices that sit beyond reach of Bluetooth and WiFi signals. The company is now shipping software and hardware development kits, as well as an easy-to-use test kit to check local signal strength.

The software development kit partners are Nordic Semiconductor, Silicon Labs, and Texas Instruments.

The FAUN watches over the forest of developers. It roams between Kubernetes clusters, code caves, AI trails, and cloud canopies, gathering the signals that matter and clearing out the noise.
